Employment

I work for a company that creates financial modelling software. I write documentation to help people use the software. I try the software and suggest improvements. I create example models to help me learn how to use the software.

In 2002, I began working part time. I wanted to find a better balance between work, study, and other parts of my life. In 2010, I began working from home. My employer was encouraging people to work from home, because we were moving to a new office that was not large enough for all of us. I like not having a tiring journey to and from work and having much more control over my work environment than I would have in a communal office.

Barclays Bank

From 14 August 2000 to 30 September 2003, I was a trainee actuary at Barclays Bank. I joined Barclays straight from university and worked in the finance actuarial team. My work mainly concerned the embedded valuations of Barclays Life. I was based at Murray House, 1 Royal Mint Court, London, EC3N 4HH. I worked there until Barclays Bank outsourced the actuarial department of Barclays Life to Watson Wyatt.

Towers Watson (previously Watson Wyatt)

From 1 October 2003 to 22 June 2010, I was an actuarial consultant at Watson Wyatt. At first, I mainly continued to do what I had done while working for Barclays Bank. From January 2005, I became increasingly involved with the user documentation for a piece of financial modelling software. I was based at 21 Tothill Street, London, SW1H 9LL. While I was there, Watson Wyatt merged with Towers Perrin to form Towers Watson. When Towers Watson sold some of its software business to Algorithmics, I moved to Algorithmics with the business.

Algorithmics

From 23 June 2010 to 30 September 2012, I was an actuarial consultant at Algorithmics. I wrote user documentation and provided user support for a piece of financial modelling software. Algorithmics was a member of the Fitch Group, but became an IBM company on 20 October 2011. When Algorithmics moved its business to IBM, I moved to IBM with the business.

IBM

From 1 October 2012 to 30 June 2017, I was a senior consultant at IBM. I wrote user documentation and provided user support for a piece of financial modelling software. When IBM sold some of its software business to RNA Analytics, I moved to RNA Analytics with the business.

RNA Analytics

Since 1 July 2017, I have been an information developer at RNA Analytics. I write user documentation and provide user support for a piece of financial modelling software.
